W&T Offshore is searching for a VP, Land. This is an exciting direct hire opportunity to work for an established upstream O&G company with 37 + years of leadership in the Gulf of Mexico.

WORKING LOCATION: Houston Office – 5718 WESTHEIMER RD 77057

FULL-TIME/PART-TIME: Full-Time

SCHEDULE: M-T, 9 hours/F, 4 hours (in-office)

FLSA STATUS: Salaried – Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The VP, Land is responsible for leading and directing W&T’s land department in all aspects of exploration, development, production and acquisitions and divestitures. Also responsible for interacting with W&T senior management by providing information and recommendations for ongoing projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successfully leads and directs a Land team consisting of landmen and analysts.
  • Advanced knowledge of all offshore agreements, including, but not limited to operating agreements, unit agreements, PHAs, RUEs, ROWs, purchase and sale agreements and farmin and farmout agreements.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of oil and gas industry contracts with the ability to successfully draft and negotiate agreements.
  • Ensures Company’s operations are conducted in accordance with applicable rules, regulations, and permits in the assigned asset areas.
  • Advanced knowledge of offshore governmental procedures and regulations. This includes, but not limited to, regulations and policies of BSEE, BOEM, ONRR, and the States of Texas and Louisiana.
  • Utilizes proactive negotiating tactics and strategies, finding and developing prospective opportunities
  • Oversee and support programs and initiatives established by senior management.
  • Oversees due diligence projects
  • Identify and respond to potential litigation issues and work closely with Legal staff
  • Assess land risk and convey risks to senior management
  • Establish and oversee land budgets
  • Coordinate land activities with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to seek out external opportunities

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCAITON & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 15 +years federal offshore land experience
  • Minimum of 15 + years of offshore land manager experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; JD or MBA degree preferable
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced knowledge of negotiating strategies and theories
  • Ability to manage multiple high priority projects and meet established deadlines
  • Networking and relationship building skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adhere to both the AAPL and Company ethical standards at all times.
  • Ability to handle a large and diverse work loads

PHYSICAL REQIREMENTS:
