The Points Guy is looking for a motivated same-day news editor to join its growing team. The ideal candidate is passionate about travel — all the better if you already understand how to leverage points and miles to travel the world. You will be tasked with editing large amounts of content on a daily basis — from news briefs to guides to reviews and more. Topics will range from general travel to aviation to credit cards and you’ll be expected to become an expert in all areas over time. As an editor, you’ll collaborate with writers and lead editors across all departments. Your work will help the brand elevate its content to the next level.

What You’ll Do:

• Edit same-day news briefs, guides and features across several departments, including Travel, Points & Miles, Aviation, News and Credit Cards.
• Edit copy for accuracy, organization and flow.
• Ensure content conforms to templates.
• Be an evangelist for AP-based house style and make sure it’s properly implemented in all stories.
• Work within WordPress to QC backend story specifications (post tags, categories, metadata, etc.).
• Contribute to the ongoing assessment and improvement of editorial procedures and standards.
• Collaborate with editors, writers and copy editors.

What We’re Looking For:

• 3+ years of experience as a developmental/content editor, preferably in a digital-first environment.
• Background in editing, copyediting and proofreading.
• Strong knowledge of AP style.
• Knowledge of aviation, points and miles and the general travel industry.
• Laser focus and strong attention to detail.
• Love of a fast-paced work environment and the ability to edit quickly while producing high-quality content.
• Effective communicator.
• Knack for pivoting as necessary and constantly reprioritizing your work queue.
• Proven organizational and leadership skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
