We are looking to hire a Workplace Technology Engineer to join our Workplace Technology Engineering team. You’ll be working in a small dedicated engineering team to scale and perfect the provision, maintenance and management of all IT hardware and software across Starling as we grow.

What you’ll do:

  • Be responsible for providing the best end-user experience for our staff whilst maintaining our security posture
  • Apply the benefit of your experience to the challenges we face as we scale up Starling and have the courage and flexibility to find and choose unconventional approaches where appropriate
  • Work across the company to research, design, configure, implement and maintain our macOS and Windows estate, as well as our SaaS products and assist in the rollout of new applications and their integrations, including product enhancement and product upgrades
  • Act as an escalation point for complex issues – that sometimes require collaboration with other teams across Starling or vendors to resolve
  • Document procedures, policies, technical instructions and security practices
  • Maintain the reliability of the macOS and Windows platforms with rigorous testing of new releases, deployment workflows, and software updates
  • Scale our MDM platforms to support fast-moving teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Help our staff get the most out of their devices!

It would be great if you have:

  • Experience of implementing, configuring and administering SaaS products (we use Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Okta, Mimecast, Slack, BetterCloud and many more!)
  • Understanding of networking technologies (WiFi, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN)
  • Experience with MDM products (we use Jamf and Microsoft Endpoint Manager)
  • Scripting skills in some or all of Bash, Zsh, Python and Swift/Objective-C
  • Good problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset
  • Experience providing first-class end-user computing experience at scale
  • Worked with security teams to ensure device security and with support teams to solve complex issues

Starling technology works in a hybrid pattern both from home and one of our three offices. We’re open to applications from across the UK including fully remote, if you’re hybrid our preference is that you’re located within a commutable distance to either our London, Southampton or Cardiff office, so that we’re able to see each other and collaborate in person too.
