OVERVIEW/SUMMARY

The Associate Workflow Consultant executes continuous improvement efforts to support the implementation of our Strategic Workflow Consulting strategy as it relates to complex automated laboratory solutions and customers’ workflow processes. This field-based position is a part of the Roche Healthcare Consulting (RHC) team and works closely with colleagues, customers, and internal stakeholders (global business affiliates, marketing, IT, and others) to address customers’ unique priorities, challenges, and needs. The Associate Workflow Consultant delivers results through data automation, analytics, and programming work–and being able to combine such work with expertise provided by the consulting team on topics related to laboratory testing and operations. As a result, this fosters and supports sales opportunities and also positions commercial opportunities for Roche Healthcare Consulting (RHC). This position requires up to 50% overnight travel across the US.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply standardized end-to-end strategic workflow consultancy approaches/practices that create evidenced-based differentiated value for customers

  • Assist colleagues with assessing and documenting customers’ current and proposed, improved laboratory layouts, work practices, and workflows

  • Analyze customers’ system performance data and perform analytic simulations of solution performance

  • Support the creation of performance simulations of proposed solutions

  • Develop and deliver customer-facing presentations, as needed

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop, refine, and constantly evolve high-value deliverable templates, best practices, and tools

  • Support the delivery of strategic workflow consulting services and training to sales, services, and customer teams

  • Perform related administrative duties such as creating and submitting expense/status reports and adhere to any additional regulatory requirements

You enjoy working on varied and complex problems often involving research, analysis, and solution development. You are organized, analytical, and possess advanced verbal and written communication skills. Your strong interpersonal skills enable you to influence decision makers and credibly recommend changes to lab practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or healthcare related field

  • Black Belt certification is not required at hire, but Black Belt certified in Lean and Six Sigma programs within 18 months of onboarding is expected

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Location/Travel

  • Able to travel up to 50% across the US, including overnight travel

  • Reside in the Indianapolis metropolitan area

Knowledge

  • General understanding of IVD Laboratory Solutions and their workflow/functioning (within the lab and at an institutional level)

  • Familiarity with Roche Diagnostic and/or competitors’ products/solutions

Skills

  • Strong organization and analytical skills to uncover key technical, operational and strategic issues

  • Proficiency in applying analytical methods and using applications to support consulting engagement conclusions and recommendations.

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills to influence customer decision makers by articulating ideas and influencing others to adopt solutions and recommend changes to lab practices to improve waste, cost, quality, and turnaround times

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively influence people at various organization levels internally and within the customer site

Experience

  • Using AutoCad and other visualization technologies (AR/VR, 3D modeling, Matterport)

  • Programming in Java, C++, SQL, C#, HTML and/or other languages

  • Creating and managing apps and/or web- or computer-based software that automate the analytics of large data sets, as well as identifying improvement opportunities for new iterations

  • Creating and managing master data (creation, updates, storage, and deletion)

  • Analyzing/developing reports and designing/managing the reporting environment (data sources, security, and metadata)

  • Data warehousing and supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization
