The Global Compliance Team operates across three regional hubs, led by the firm’s General Counsel, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer based in the London office. Candidates for this role may opt to work fully remotely, however may occasionally be required to travel to attend team meetings. THE ROLE This is an opportunity to join the firm’s compliance team in London, reporting into the Compliance Services Manager. The role focuses on the ongoing monitoring of existing client relationships across the Firm’s professional services arm. The work also includes the testing of third party introducer arrangements, responding to changes in the global regulatory framework, sanctions screening and remediation projects. The role will require knowledge of the AML/CTF regimes across the Firm’s ten offices and multiple business lines. Full training will be provided but the successful applicant will be expected to supplement this with independent reading of the regulations and remain up to date on regulatory changes. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Senior Compliance Services Analyst will: Be responsible for (a) reviewing the due diligence of existing Walkers entities/clients and where appropriate, re-identifying their ownership and control to assess AML/CTF and sanctions risks and determine applicable Customer Due Diligence (“CDD”) requirements, (b) collecting and reviewing relevant CDD materials, and (c) approving, where appropriate, new relationships which satisfy applicable requirements, or otherwise escalating cases to the Compliance Services Manager as necessary; Provide practical and prompt advice and assistance to fee-earners and other professional staff in relation to applicable AML/CTF (including CDD) obligations; Conduct screening to identify politically exposed persons (PEPs), sanctions issues and other regulatory and reputational risks; Conduct and review risk assessments to ensure that the appropriate risk rating is assigned to the clients and matters and that proper escalation to senior management is triggered in high risk scenarios; Work closely with operational teams to ensure that the firm’s AML/CTF obligations are met; Assist with updating and maintaining compliance-related documentation, including AML manuals, policies, procedures and templates, as well as compliance bulletins and other internal communications; Assist with the preparation of training materials and deliver training for compliance team members; Assist with preparations for regulatory inspections and submissions; Provide assistance with on-going monitoring procedures, including testing of reliance on third parties and other risk and compliance audits as necessary; Work closely with operational teams to ensure that the firm’s AML/CTF obligations are met; Assist the Compliance Services Manager and Head of Compliance with local, regional and global compliance projects as required; Carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose of the role, including the performance of duties outside normal working hours when required and work in a flexible manner. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Graduate with at least three years’ experience in an international compliance function role with a focus on AML and other financial crime; preferably in a law firm environment or alternatively in the financial services sector. SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with partners, employees and (where appropriate) with the firm’s clients. Strong research, analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team Client- focused and commercial aptitude. Ability to work under pressure and responsive to the expectations of partners and clients. Able to prioritise competing demands; excellent time management and organisational skills.
