Health and Safety ManagerPlease double check you have the right level of experience and qualifications by reading the full overview of this opportunity below.Location: Castlecary, CumbernauldHours of Work: 39-hour week (M-T, 0800 – 1630, F – 0800 – 1530 (with some flexibility)MS Window Systems is an industry leading building envelope contractor specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of PVCu and aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling systems.We are currently seeking a Health & Safety Manager to be based at our Head Office in Castlecary, Cumbernauld.To ensure the company’s Health and Safety Policy is implemented consistently across the Company and ensure that the Company is fully protected from financial and Health and Safety risk.Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor, evaluate and review Health and Safety policy and practice, make recommendations and implement new policies and procedures as required.
  • Assist in the identification of training needs for employees and develop and deliver training as required.
  • To advise the Directors and Senior management team on the implications of current and emerging health, safety and welfare legislation, including evaluating options, making recommendations and generating actions plans to ensure compliance across the organisation.
  • Ensure all Insurance pertaining to the business is appropriate and reviewed annually in line with business growth.
  • To support managers to maintain safe systems, providing specialist advice, coaching and practical hands on support.
  • Assist managers implement health and safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) in a consistent and effective manner.
  • Ensure the organisation, its clients and designers comply with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.
  • To carry out audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety systems and procedures and identify and implement improvements.
  • Ensure routine health and safety activities and checks are carried out e.g. testing of portable electrical appliances and the review of risk assessments;
  • To complete an annual review of risk assessments, update and create new risk assessments as required.
  • Investigate, or where appropriate, to assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence.
  • To take action to mitigate the impact and likelihood of health and safety risks.
  • Co-ordinate the issuing of notifications where required to the Health and Safety Executive.
  • To manage the programme of fire risk assessments and where necessary relevant control measures.
  • To drive a positive Health and Safety culture across all areas of the business.
  • Prepare regular reports on compliance and activity for presentation to the Directors.The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
  • Excellent working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Flexible approach to work, able to manage own priorities and workload
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills result focused and determined
  • A relevant Health and Safety Qualification i.e. NEBOSH is preferred.
