Primary Medical is looking for dynamic, front office Medical Receptionists to join the team at our various locations in Ventura County.

Established in 1994, our award- winning practice specializes in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Endocrinology. We serve patients in seven offices located across Ventura County; in the cities of Ventura, Santa Paula, Oxnard, and Camarillo. Our offices are family-friendly, and our healthcare providers pay special attention to preventive care and regular monitoring for patients with chronic illnesses like diabetes and heart disease.

SUMMARY

The Medical Receptionist is responsible for a variety of activities in the office, including: filing, answering the phone, organizing documents, basic bookkeeping, scheduling and following up on appointments in a professional and timely manner. This person must be comfortable and efficient in multi-tasking and flexible to work in multiple location as the business needs warrant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs the following duties, but not limited to:

  • Greeting patients at the time of check in at the front desk.
  • Answer and direct multiple phone lines in a timely manner, including checking voicemails throughout the day.
  • Process patient payments and balance cash drawer on a daily basis.
  • Schedule, reschedule and confirm patient appointments.
  • Work within multiple websites to verify insurance coverage for patient appointments.
  • Assist with patients checking out after appointment with provider, scheduled follow-up appointments, hand out any paperwork that the patient any need such as labs, orders, etc.
  • Manage assigned task lists.
  • Work as a team with other co-workers to complete tasks.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities the front office staff may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Knowledge of medical terminology desired. Successful completion of a medical front office program or on the job training with an emphasis on customer service. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Knowledge / Technical Skills: Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills; Understanding of principles and practices of the organization, planning, records management and general administration. Dependability, adaptability and confidentiality are necessary attributes. Ability to work with clinical staff and handle direction from more than one provider as well as work from different office locations based on the business needs. Basic money handling knowledge. Commitment to the concepts of preventative health care and team approach to health care delivery

Customer Service Skills: Politeness, confidence, tact, patience and diplomacy while dealing with complex and confidential situations. Excellent communication skill. Problem solving skills. Ability to maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all members. Ability to learn about patients and their problems. Integrity and honesty to handle payments and cash drawer. Professional communication skills. Be willing to work in a dynamic team-based setting where daily job duties may fluctuate depending on need.

The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
