Account Director – NY

As an Account Director, you ensure that all our work reflects that approach. The Account Director oversees team members who serve as the day-to-day contacts for client and agency partners. You have a clear understanding of cross-functional agency resources, as well as in-depth knowledge of associated client businesses. ADs accept the role of manager, liaison, thinker, and problem-solver.

Essential Functions:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Maintain direct, day-to-day, senior-level client contact and supervise one or more key accounts
  • Coordinate resources across the agency to ensure proper support
  • Offer guidance and expertise during projects to all agency functions
  • Check all working documents throughout the course of each project
  • Review and approve all briefs prior to project kick-offs
  • Review and approve all creative materials, such as proofs, staging sites, pages, and review emails prior to final client delivery
  • Analyze client input along with background knowledge and communicate appropriate information to the Optimist team
  • Track and manage weekly submission of timesheets across team
  • Manage client budgets and communicate regular updates to the team
  • Develop SOWs, staffing plans, and track finances internally to communicate with clients
  • Provide senior management team with updates and the most current financial information on projects
  • Maintain knowledge of event production including (but not limited to) FOH, A/V, scenic, and build
  • Build and manage relationships with key internal/external partners and vendors
  • Understand and have knowledge of budget, labor, and contract negotiation skills
  • Source new business opportunities from existing and potential client contacts
  • Drive the development of pitch decks for new business opportunities
  • Mentor junior team members by fostering an environment of mutual respect and partnership, open lines of communication, and professional development

CONCEPT & STRATEGY

  • Contribute to the development of creative, strategic, comprehensive, and integrated marketing plans that align with stated objectives and success metrics
  • Lead strategic initiatives and proactively provide the client with thoughtful leadership and guidance
  • Manage short-term planning for the clients, aligning both strategy and tactics with the overall vision in mind
  • Maintain knowledge in all aspects of relationship marketing, including expertise in engagement vehicles and data analytics

CLIENT MANAGEMENT

  • Manage client relationships and instill confidence that their business is being handled at an executive level
  • Discuss, recommend, and provide direction on issues ranging from strategy, reconciliation, staffing, timelines, and POV’s
  • Communicate the shared opinion of all agency team members to the client, while being able to articulate client near-term vision to the agency

Job Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in lifestyle brand marketing, retail marketing, sports marketing and/or events; agency experience is preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or MBA in marketing or related fields
  • Experience managing, leading, training, and mentoring multi-faceted teams
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with ability to lead projects without
  • Experience in public speaking and digital or collaborative presentations
  • Willing to travel and act as the agency business lead
  • Command of Microsoft Office and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suites
  • Proficient in the use of Dropbox, Google Docs, and Keynote
