The Role

This role sits within Mindshare’s ‘Unite’ global media team. The Unite team has been built to service the specific scaled requirements of one of the world’s largest advertisers, Unilever. However, the Unite team is also fully integrated within the Mindshare Global HQ office in London, benefitting from access to wider agency resources and culture (The Unite team also has hub offices in New York and Singapore, which work in close partnership with the London team).

The Unite team in London consists of 60+ personnel, working within specific ‘Centres of Excellence’ (CoEs), which are dedicated to developing and supporting best practice media delivery for Unilever in 80+ countries around the globe. These CoEs cover disciplines such as Communications Planning, Media Trading, Digital Media Operations, Audience Insights, Media Data Management and Reporting.

This particular role exists within the ‘Media Excellence’ Centre of Excellence team. This team is responsible for managing multiple ongoing programmes of work for Unilever, related to best practice media planning / implementation, media budget setting, data management and reporting.

The primary responsibility of the Media Investment Management Director would be the running of Unilever’s media budget setting programme, supporting 80+ local country teams across not only the Mindshare network, but also offices of other Unilever roster media agencies including PHD, Initiative Media and Havas.

This role is full-time, based at Mindshare’s central London offices, and 100% dedicated to supporting our global Unilever account responsibilities.

The Ideal Candidate

Candidates should have proven experience in the media industry, ideally working across a combination of the following fields:

– Media planning and/or media buying in all forms of paid media

– Global media account management

– Media research & analytics

– Media data management & reporting

– Media budget setting

– Positive attitude and a willingness to adapt and grow as the accountole evolves

– Ability to manage direct and indirect reports – setting their workload, ensuring they are properly briefed and supported on all tasks and helping to grow their skillset

– Relationship builder – it will be key for this person to develop a close working relationship with their Unite colleagues, local agency contacts and clients

– Work well under pressure with the ability to manage, delegate and execute on multiple tasks

– Strong organisational and communication skills

– Accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks

– High degree of numeracy with a desire to work with numbers and data

– A team player who is comfortable working with clients and colleagues at all levels

Essential Criteria

Media data management experience

Detailed understanding of media planning principles

Familiarity with commercial marketing concepts such as ROI

Confident and capable in dealing with senior internal and external stakeholders

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programmes, in particular Excel

Desirable Criteria

Project management experience

Previous experience working with large multi-national brands

Previous experience working in the FMCG sector

Experience of working with budget setting or other forms of econometric analyses

Understanding of masterdata management / governance

Responsibilities

In this role your key responsibility will be as the subject matter expert for Unilever media budget setting, globally. Within this role the primary areas of responsibility will include but not be limited to the following areas:

Annual budget setting programme & delivery management

Developing budget setting training materials

Training new local agency users of the budget setting system and ways of working

Consultancy to global and local stakeholders (client and media agencies) of the best practice use of our global media budget setting system – ‘B-SMART’

Primary point of contact for client and agency stakeholder questions

Daily management of direct and indirect report

Identify and specify future tool development opportunities – working in close partnership with our Integrated Analytics and Technology colleagues

Data quality control of budget setting records

Analyses to assess status of global media activity funding sufficiency for global client sponsors

Involvement in other CoE and Unite workstreams including but not limited to media planning best practice guidance setting and assessment, data analysis and support for new client programmes of work etc
