This team is currently working in a hybrid model and the position will be based onsite 2-3 days/week in either Mansfield, MA or Minneapolis, MN.

The Medtronic Corporate Tax Department is seeking a Tax Accountant to join our State Income Tax Compliance team. Primary responsibilities include preparation of state corporate income tax returns, state modification workpapers, and apportionment workpapers. This position also involves assistance with state tax provision calculations, responding to questions from state taxing authorities, assisting with income tax audits, and collaborating with other finance professionals throughout Medtronic.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Team with other tax professionals in the preparation of Medtronic’s state and local income and franchise tax returns.
  • Prepare reconciliations and estimates as needed for the quarterly tax provision.
  • Prepare calculations of state estimated income tax liabilities as required for quarterly state estimated income tax payments as well as extensions.
  • Research and respond to state income tax notices and requests from state and local taxing authorities.
  • Assist with state income and franchise tax audit information requests.
  • Assist with other tax projects as they arise.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ Corporate income tax experience (0+ with advanced degree)

Nice to Have

  • CorpTax or other tax compliance software experience
  • Experience preparing calculations using MS Excel spreadsheets
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to reconcile data from various sources
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, V-Lookup, Data Manipulation and Analysis)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to adapt to change
  • Ability to grow by assuming an increased level of responsibility
