Are you a Systems Software Engineer looking for a role with an impact on saving lives? Here at Leica, we engineer and build Digital pathology scanners, which are a high precision and automated electro-mechanical instrument for high resolution scan of pathological samples. The Senior Systems Software Engineer will contribute to the design of Imaging Solutions Systems Software and the integration with the rest of the Image Solutions Products and Workflow solutions. In addition to the sustainment of our current products, you will be responsible for new design and manufacturability aspects of new products plus knowledge transfer to production.

We are open to remote work from any continental U.S based major city with access to an international airport.
Responsibilities
- Implement Systems Software solutions for existing and new scanner products following the Software Development and Change Order Procedures.
- Assess the technical feasibility of concept designs through building and testing of prototypes or theoretical calculations and/or simulations.
- Verify product performance against design inputs. Write or review verification protocols, perform testing, analyze, and interpret test data, write and present verification reports.
- Provide second level support to project managers through estimation, prioritization, tracking of project tasks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or STEM field and 5+ years Software Engineering experience or equivalent.
- Minimum 3+ years C++ and/or scripting experience with python or equivalent languages
- Experience with Windows and Linux based software development tools and build environments including Visual Studio / CMake.
- Experience with secure coding practices, familiarity with Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or STEM field and 3+ years Software Engineering experience or equivalent.
- Experience in medical product development environment (FDA, ISO) with exposure to design control regulations
- Experience with unit tests tools / techniques.
- Experience with agile software development in a scrum environment.
- Familiarity with Verification and Validation methods for medical device development.
