Job Description
Work Leaderman position is responsible for assisting Foreman/Test Engineers with job assignments of Mechanics. Other key responsibilities are training represented personnel, working on his/her tools as a journeyman within specified craft and substituting for Foreman/Test Engineer when he/she is not available. Position is considered to be a transitional assignment for personnel interested in pursuing Test management positions.
Work–leaderman are responsible for ensuring all work performed in the department(s) under his/her cognizance is accomplished in accordance with the latest released Test Procedures, Engineering drawings, work schedules, budgets and quality requirements. Responsible for the Testing of all required compartments/tanks for the Ships compt. test drawing. Plans, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trade’s personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Aids and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the Company’s performance. Qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance.

Basic Qualifications
- Must be a current employee of HII-Ingalls to be considered for this position.
- Must have (1) year experience as a journeyman at Ingalls in posted craft, or a graduate of craft specific apprenticeship program, or 4+ years of documented journeyman experience in applied craft.
- Superior Attendance and Disciplinary Record.
- Candidate cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences in the last 180 day period.
- Candidate cannot have any safety DANS that result in a disciplinary layoff in last 180 day period.
- Candidate cannot have more than 2 total DANS in the last 180 day period (excluding lost tool)
- At time of application must have classification of Journeyman or Journeyman Comb.

Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years related experience; minimum of two (2) years craft experience preferably in compartment / tank testing systems.
Technical background; knowledge of management analysis, production and budget systems and shipyard operations. Knowledge of Company documentation applicable to assigned craft, labor contracts and knowledge of functions of other departments. Quality Management training preferred. Computer skills. Communication skills, written and verbal.
