About This Role

Senior Principal Researchers possess outstanding collaboration, forecasting, modelling, writing and client interaction skills. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of global analysts that assess the vendor landscape, trends and advise clients that are competing or interested in the Communications Service Provider (CSP) industry with a focus on the operating technology used to deliver communication services. You will primarily support technology and service provider executives through published forecasts and written research, conversations (Inquiry), teleconferences, and client meetings.

What You Will Do

  • Create and maintain forecast models, as well as identify influencing factors impacting the Communications Service Provider-Operating Technology market
  • Formulate assumptions based on Communications Service Provider vendor strategies, buyer demands, key macro-economic trends, influencing factors, components & key metrics across industries and geographies
  • Statistical analysis of adoption patterns and buying behaviors
  • Collaborate with Gartner’s subject matter experts in Communications Service Provider-Operating Technology to gain validation and agreement of the forecast model output, influencing market factors and assumptions
  • Demonstrate a firm grasp of commercial realities,
  • Assess the market opportunity for Communications Service Provider technologies and services, presenting powerful competitive analysis and customer opportunity assessments
  • You will have regular contact with clients in a variety of roles; advising technology and service providers and end users on our forecast models and trends
  • Contribute to forming Gartner’s Communications Service Provider-Operating Technology research agenda, and to generating new business opportunities

What You Will Need

  • Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity with a foundational understanding of the Communications Service Provider industry from both a business and technology perspective
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions.
  • Experience organizing qualitative and quantitative information and able to articulate with succinct communication skills complex ideas effectively
  • Ability to own tasks and complete projects with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Personality that thrives in a collaboration environment, likes to get involved, and can constructively debate with internal stakeholders
  • Highly numerate with excellent critical thinking skills and experience in building market sizing and forecasting models
  • Experience conducting primary and secondary research utilizing qualitative and quantitative data
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in technology, science or business/economics and/or advanced professional qualification(s) in a related field. Master’s Degree in related discipline (or MBA) is an advantage
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
