The role

The Metocean Proposal Specialist will compile winning quotes and tenders to secure metocean measurement work for Fugro’s existing and potential offshore clients. Some sales and business development tasks may be included in the role in the future. The role involves direct correspondence with Clients for work in Europe and Africa, and correspondence with Metocean colleagues in the regional Fugro offices for work in Asia and the Americas.

Fugro places an emphasis on working with Clients on a consultative basis. A strong technical knowledge paired with commercial and tendering experience is therefore a pre-requisite.

This is an exciting opportunity to support a newly merged and growing commercial team supporting Clients in the offshore energy transition sector.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Tendering, Metocean measurement solutions Prepare quotes and tenders for metocean measurement surveys and real-time monitoring systems
  • Tendering, multi-discipline solutions Provide technical input to multi-entity proposals for metocean surveys
  • Technical knowledge Liaise closely with technical specialists in the Metocean Survey team
  • Internal Metocean support Keep in regular contact with the Metocean Buoys team in the UK, Norway and the regions to support joint bids
  • Internal Geoconsulting support Keep in regular contact with Fugro Geoconsulting teams in Europe and Africa

Who You’ll Be Working With

  • Internally with commercial colleagues within the Commercial Team and subject matter experts in the project delivery teams, locally in the UK and overseas. Externally with Clients based in Europe and Africa.

Here’s What a Typical Day Would Be Like

  • Prepare quotes and tenders for metocean measurements that comprise metocean site characterisation surveys or temporary real-time monitoring programmes. Liaise with other internal departments for joint tenders with floating LiDAR buoys, environmental and other survey scopes used offshore
    • Technical Consult with relevant colleagues from the team regarding scope and methods
    • Commercial Prepare costs, margin and schedule
    • Administrative Ensure all relevant documents are communicated to the Client, all questionnaires are completed, review Terms & Conditions (with assistance from FGBML Legal Team), enter data to Fugro’s Avalon CRM software
  • Receive and analyse first inquiries from Client, engage with Clients in a consultative manner to obtain further information
  • Receive and analyse Client requests for tender clarifications, follow-up issued quotes and tenders, follow due internal processes
  • Attend meetings, both internal and external
    • Internal Share information with Fugro colleagues regarding upcoming projects/opportunities, discuss and support sales colleagues with emerging leads and opportunities, bid approval meetings
    • External (Client) meetings Either project specific to seek additional information, clarifications, negotiations, bid feedback, or more generic to discuss upcoming projects/opportunities
    • Keep up to date with industry, competitor and applicable scientific news and developments (renewable energy, oil & gas, coastal infrastructure, etc.), and attend selected conferences
    • Support activities of the Marketing Team Information to feed into press releases, website updates

    Essential

    Who we’re looking for

    • Degree level qualification in offshore metocean, environmental, survey or engineering, and/or professional experience of such, in support of commercial applications
    • Experience of tendering and/or sales commercial activities
    • Enthusiasm of working with colleagues and Clients alike to achieve technical and commercial success
    • Well-organised, able to prioritise tasks, have strong attention to detail, conscientious and showing initiative
    • Medium to advanced expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and an interest to learn the use of new software packages (Fugro’s internal support services software)

    Desirable

    • Fluency in an additional language
