This is a unique and exciting time to be a part of the Tech & Data Services team at Western Power. We are at the forefront of the energy transition in leveraging existing and new technologies, including microgrid, stand-alone power systems (SPS), battery storage solutions and incorporating increased levels of renewable energy such as roof top solar into the energy system. We’re transforming the electricity network ensuring a cleaner, brighter and more resilient energy supply for the next generation. We’re also working hard on enabling the decarbonisation of the energy system by converting more of our energy consumption to electricity, including electric vehicles (EVs) as well as other initiatives to enable industry sectors to reduce emissions by making the switch. The transition to the energy system of the future is reliant on innovation in the Tech & Data Services space. Longer term, we’ll be focusing on the establishment of foundational services, provided in an efficient, reliable and highly accessible manner. We will apply a lifecycle management approach to these services, so we are accountable for the strategy, implementation and ongoing operation of our products. We support Western Power’s objectives through fit-for-purpose data so the business can extract maximum value from our assets in any work location. We need your support to ensure appropriate techniques and tools are used to deliver solutions to the business that they can use to generate insights that yield better & faster decisions, using data they can trust and understand. Keep reading if you’d like to learn more As a Data Analyst at Western Power you will: The purpose of this position is to provide technical business and data intelligence support and coordination of everyday data operations and governance activities. This role supports both the Data Operations and Analytics Area level data projects and activities, as well as, the day to day activities of the team. The team builds, operates, maintains and provides functional support for data solutions used by the business and externals. Work aligns to our enterprise data management and governance frameworks and is supported by a large area of data engineers, data scientists, solutions architects geospatial specialists and information architects to name a few. This position also provides targeted technical analysis to support area and business decision making and expertise to support investigations into new technologies and innovative data management and governance solutions. We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include: Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Business-related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant significant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and application of information change management principles Proven commitment to continuous improvement of data, systems and processes Proven capability to analyse data and formulate solutions using Business Intelligence tools (Qlik (preferable)or other Industry standard tool), Geospatial Information Systems (desirable), and Database skills and tools Highly developed time management and multitasking skills, with a proven commitment to ongoing professional development Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly for customer contact Strong coordination and project management skills are preferable Process and business analysis skills would be advantageous.
