Job Summary

The Cell Biologist for our Small-Scale Tissue Culture group is a position open to individuals with tissue/cell culture experience and aseptic technique. BioLegend is a global leader in biotechnology that aims to enable legendary discovery via their antibodies and various reagents for biomedical research. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment that promotes creative innovation. This position offers experience in several areas of tissue culture, in scales ranging from 96 well plates to Roller Bottles. You will also have to opportunity to cross train on a variety of supporting tasks, such as sub-cloning, downstream processing, ELISA assays, mycoplasma detection, and BNII analysis. The primary functions of this position include culturing, setting up, feeding, maintaining, and harvesting of hybridoma cells in roller bottles.

Essential Functions

  • Tissue culture using aseptic technique.
  • Maintenance and feeding of cells in roller bottles.
  • Thawing, culturing, and freezing cells.
  • Cell counting.
  • Preparation of media.
  • Assisting on other areas including ELISA, data entry, etc.
  • Conducting experiments for process improvement and optimization under supervision.
  • Troubleshoot problematic clones.
  • Track production runs downstream.
  • Interdepartmental communication.
  • Training associates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications – Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related area.
  • 1-2 years of cell culture experience
  • Skilled in aseptic technique
  • Strong organization and documentation skills.
  • Must be able to take initiative, be flexible and highly motivated.

Preferred Qualifications – Education And Experience

  • Previous experience working with hybridoma cells.
  • Experience working in an ISO 13485, QSR, or GMP/GLP environment.
  • Experience training others in a commercial or academic lab.
  • Microsoft Office including Excel proficiency.
  • Additional experience with handling different cell lines
  • Experience with troubleshooting and process improvement
