Based in the Midlands, our Building Engineering group is undergoing significant growth and development as it continues to win major work in the industrial and property sectors. Arup’s work unbound policy allows you to work your contracted hours throughout the calendar week from a combination of working from home and the Nottingham office.

The Opportunity

Based in Nottingham and working as part of our Midlands Region, you will apply your engineering expertise to shape our projects as well as play an active role in all stages from feasibility through to completion across a number of sectors, including science and industry, commercial, residential, healthcare and energy. We have a diverse portfolio including local, national and international projects. You will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment and aim to design buildings that maximise value for our clients whilst minimising their environmental impact.


  • Liaising with clients, other design team members and contractors.
  • Mentoring junior Engineers and Technicians.
  • Delivering high quality, innovative design and specification work, requiring thorough knowledge and experience of the full range of project delivery including site supervision and inspections.
  • Contributing to the development of good practice within the discipline through involvement with skills networks and team process improvement initiatives.
  • Being generally office based but with opportunities for local, national and international short-term travel.


  • Be Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, preferably Masters or equivalent and working towards Chartership
  • Have a wide knowledge of the design of electrical building systems including coordination, spatial planning and energy performance of buildings – ideally within Data Centre
  • Have a working knowledge of common electrical building services software (ProDesign, Dialux, IES) as well as Revit MEP
  • Have experience supervising and providing technical mentorship to Technicians.
  • Be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
