The DVDS Coordinator is an integral part of public protection, works within the Safeguarding Team and is based at Swindon or Melksham with a strong element of agile working.

The Coordinator reports to the Detective Sergeant on the Safeguarding Team.

The purpose is to receive and review all Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS) and Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme (CSODS) applications for Swindon and Wiltshire from police and external agencies such as social services, Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) and members of the public. To undertake detailed research and assess and evaluate intelligence and information gathered to facilitate the disclosure decision making process. To carry out face to face interviews with potential victims of Domestic Abuse, to provide disclosure to victims through the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (Clare’s Law) and Child Sex Offender Disclosure (Sarah’s Law) and ensure suitable safeguarding support and referrals following disclosure.

The role includes review and interpret information from applications received, complete specified checks and then complete complex and detailed research. A report is then produced for the Detective Inspector and partner agencies to consider further action.

A close working relationship with colleagues and partners is key to this role and the coordinator is a point of contact within Wiltshire Police offering expertise and advice.

The coordinator will also conduct face to face meetings with applicants delivering disclosures and ensuring safeguarding accordingly.

The right person for the job will have excellent interpersonal skills, work well in a small team – but also be able to work alone.

A high level of organisational skill is required to manage the applications, reviews, and research. A high level of resilience is required to deal with the subject matter.
